Storm player commits to D1 program

The Windy City Storm is pleased to announce U18 Defensemen, Alex Calbeck, verbally committed to Western Michigan University (NCHC).

Calbeck, who joined the Windy City Storm this season is a local Illinois native who has collected 7 points in just 10 games.

Alex is the 5th U18 team member so far this season to either sign a tender agreement in the NAHL, be called up or make a college commitment. He joins Landon Greenough (Anchorage), Matt Croxall (Maryland), Owen O’Rear (Janesville Jets) and Sam Grimaldi (New Mexico).

Calbeck was selected by the Chicago Steel in the USHL draft this past spring. “Alex is a committed, high character individual and that is full credit to his family background.  After suffering a major injury earlier this season, Alex showed relentless resilience and drive by working himself back to possibly an even better player. I can’t prouder of him and excited for his family,” comments Head Coach U18 Anthony Bohn.

Windy City has ties to Western Michigan University as former NHLer and Hockey Director Joe Corvo is an alumni.
